Boys or girls invited to Scouting event

BELLE GLADE — The Gulf Stream Council of Boy Scouts of America announces their annual “Scout Me In” recruitment event set for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, for local boys and girls who are in kindergarten through fifth grade and might want to join the Cub Scouts. It will take place at the Community United Methodist Church, 401 S.W. First St. in Belle Glade.

Boys and girls are encouraged to come join the fun and adventures of Cub Scouts Pack 622, which engages in family camping, the Pinewood Derby, hiking, fishing, wall-climbing, swimming, woodcrafting, community service, sports, games and bow-and-arrow training.

Older boys, those from sixth grade up to high school seniors (or age 18), are being recruited to join Boy Scouts Troop 622, said committee chairwoman Johanis Bair.

Every day there’s another discovery waiting to be made for Cub and Boy Scouts. Those who join the Scouts get hands-on learning that’s hands-down awesome.

For more information, contact Ms. Bair at 561-261-0015 or sweetblossom@bellsouth.net. To learn more about the Gulf Stream Council, call 877-4SCOUTS (877-472-6887) or visit their office at 8335 N. Military Trail in Palm Beach Gardens.
