Free summer lunches for kids

BELLE GLADE — The Palm Beach County Board of County Commissioners approved a proposal to partner with the School District of Palm Beach County to serve free nutritious lunches and snacks to children during the summer at seven branches of the Palm Beach County Library System.

The service, for all children through age 18, will be available from Tuesday, June 6, through Friday, July 28, excluding holidays and weekends.

The Summer Food Service will be provided in geographic locations where 50 percent or more of students qualify for free or reduced lunch during the school year which includes the Belle Glade Branch, 725 NW 4th St, Belle Glade.

According to the USDA, “The Summer Food Service Program ensures that low-income children continue to receive nutritious meals when school is not in session.” The Library System is proud to partner with the School District to make sure that all Palm Beach County children are well-fed and well-read throughout the summer.
