BELLE GLADE — The University of Florida Everglades Research and Education Center invites the public to hear guest speaker Dr. Rena Borkhataria at the Everglades REC Conference on Friday, Feb. 3, at 10:45 a.m. The Everglades REC Conference Center is located at 3200 E Palm Beach Road, Belle Glade.
Dr. Rena Borkhataria is a wildlife ecologist with a B.S. in Wildlife Management from the University of Arizona, an M.S. in Zoology from North Carolina State University, and a Ph.D. in Wildlife Ecology and Conservation from the University of Florida.
She is the co-founder, PI, Director, and National Coordinator of the Doris Duke Conservation Scholars program at UF, or the DDCSP Collaborative as it is commonly referred to. The mission of this $3.5 million project is to increase diversity and inclusion in the field of conservation. Dr. Borkhataria also conducts research on the ecology of wood storks, with an emphasis on population dynamics and habitat use.
Seminars are free and open to the public and no reservations are necessary.
