Friday Seminar at the Everglades REC Conference

BELLE GLADE — Jianping Wang, Ph.D., Assistant Professor, Agronomy Department, UF will be the guest speaker for the Friday Seminar at the Everglades REC Conference, 3200 East Palm Beach Road, Belle Glade on Friday, April 28 at 10:45 a.m. Topic of speech will be about developing genetic markers associated with sugarcane orange rust resistance.

Dr. Wang received her B.S. and M.S. from China Agricultural University and her Ph.D. from Michigan State University. She continued her education with Postdoc training specializing in genomics and bioinformatics at the University of Illinois. Dr. Wang has been at the University of Florida since 2010 and her primary research focus is on translational genomics. She has published 44 peer reviewed articles, has two patents, and three book chapters. She has garnered over $2 million external funds as PI and co-PI from federal, national, and state granting agencies. Additionally, Dr. Wang teaches two courses at UF and most recently received the North American Colleges and Teachers of Agriculture (NACTA) Educator award in 2016.
