Meaningful Activities in Aging

BELLE GLADE — The West County Senior Center, in partnership with the Florida Atlantic University Memory and Wellness Center, will host “Meaningful Activities in Aging” on Wednesday, November 30, 11 a.m., at the West County Senior Center, 2916 State Road #15, in Belle Glade.

Taylor Blake, activity coordinator at the Louis and Anne Green Memory and Wellness Center, will explain the importance of mental stimulation and socialization as one gets older. Different categories of activities and examples of each will be reviewed.
 
The program will also involve the audience in some stimulating and fun activities. Participating as a group, guests will experience the importance of social interaction as a meaningful activity. Through stimulating the cognitive mind with these activities participants will gain meaning and understanding of what works best for them in keeping a sharp mind.
 
Attendees will learn about:
·         Differences between passing time and completing a meaningful activity
·         How activities improve quality of life as you age
·         Various types of activities to keep the brain active
·         Participation in meaningful activities during the program
Receive a packet of activities to take home.
