Red Cross to host “Coffee with the Chief” with Glades Area Fire Chief has been rescheduled

BELLE GLADE  —  The American Red Cross Greater Palm Beach and Martin County Chapter will host its popular “Coffee with the Chief,” a meet-and-greet gathering with Palm Beach County Fire Rescue Battalion, Chief Patrick Kennedy. The event is one of several that the Palm Beach and Martin County Chapter has planned over the coming months in order to open up a dialog between the American Red Cross volunteers, community officials, and the general public. Due to conflicts with the League of Cities meetings, this event has been reschedule to Monday, Jan. 9, 5:30 p.m.at Bank of Belle Glade, 108 S. E. Avenue D Belle Glade.   The event is free and open to the public.

“Events like these give the public and American Red Cross volunteers a direct connection to the leadership behind our fire rescue service men and women.” said Robin Hicks Nunley, Executive Director of Greater Palm Beach and Martin County Chapter of the Red Cross.  “Facilitating conversations with the community is just as important as physically installing fire alarms in the community, and both serve a tandem purpose toward improving fire safety and awareness.”

Attendees will meet Patrick Kennedy, Chief of Palm Beach County Fire Rescue Battalion 7. Chief Kennedy has over twenty years of experience as a fire fighter and paramedic in the West Delray and West Boca Raton areas. When not serving as a community leader, Chief Kennedy is a coach, a father, and a husband. Together with his wife, Chief Kennedy raises three energetic boys and also serves as Deacon at the Spanish River Church in Boca Raton. Chief Kennedy is also enrolled at Warner University in Lake Wales, Florida. He expects to graduate this fall, earning a Bachelors in Business Administration.

Attendees will have an opportunity to talk with and personally meet Chief Kennedy and discuss how the Palm Beach County Fire Rescue and the American Red Cross Palm Beach and Martin County Chapter are increasing fire safety and awareness in the surrounding area. The events, billed as “Coffee with the Chief,” are a unique opportunity for residents to meet personally with community leadership and hear first-hand how the Red Cross is helping to make a difference.
