Boost’s Back-to-School Bash

Above, from left, Shamika Salter, Fabian Crittenden and Tabatha McAllister, Order of the Eastern Star members, were among the many volunteers helping out at the fifth annual Belle Glade Back-to-School Bash put on by Amin Mohamad, owner of Boost Mobile of Belle Glade, outside his store Saturday, Aug. 4. Hundreds of schoolchildren showed up with their parents and guardians to collect free school supply items that had been donated by many people in the city.

Below, the food trucks were popular gathering spots as the back-to-school event coincided with lunchtime, and so was the Game Truck on Wheelz that had many of the latest popular video games aboard. Over 700 backpacks were given away, along with thousands of various school supplies, and face painting, haircuts, gifts, music and food also were provided.
