Countywide Youth Summit

PALM BEACH — On Saturday, April 22, 600 youth from all over the county will convene at Palm Beach Lakes H.S. in West Palm Beach for the seventh annual Palm Beach County Youth Summit. The day-long summit is themed “Open Your Mind.” The event kicks off at 9 a.m. and ends at 3:30 p.m. Registration and breakfast start at 8 a.m.

The purpose of the Palm Beach County Youth Summit is to provide local middle and high school aged youth with a unique opportunity to explore and address areas of concern impacting them. Youth will participate in relevant interactive workshops to include the following dynamic areas of focus: Violence, Gangs, Drugs & Alcohol, Trauma Informed, Racial Equity, Cyber Bullying, Education, Employment, and many other topics. It will be a day of empowerment, education, and entertainment.

This year, students from Palm Beach Lakes H.S. drama department will perform a play called “Aftermath” in which actors will address life consequences of drinking and driving. The “Think Fast” game, a fun interactive game show will be back in West Palm Beach to once again entertain our teens. The youth will receive 10 community service hours, giveaway items, and will be eligible to participate in raffles throughout the day.

Sponsors for the Youth Summit include the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, Urban League of Palm Beach County, City of West Palm Beach, Palm Beach County Substance Awareness Coalition, Palm Beach County School District, PBC Youth Services Department, the Department of Children & Families, Molina Health, and many collaborative partners.
