Pahokee’s Back-to-School Bash draws hundreds

PAHOKEE — The Palm Beach County School Board’s representative from the Glades, Marcia Andrews (left), visits with Idelvis Lugones of the School Food Service during the Back-to-School Bash at Pahokee Middle Senior High School on Saturday morning, Aug. 4.

Ms. Lugones, the coordinator for the free and reduced-cost school lunch program, was working with colleague Clarissa Longoria (above, at left in pink blouse) to sign up qualifying families for the program, while Francisco Muniz (right background, blue shirt) of WellCare Health Plans was providing help and advice for parents or guardians who receive Medicaid or Medicare.

Bicycles and laptops were among the items raffled off during the event, which drew hundreds of school children and their parents.
