Remembrance Vigil set 16

BELLE GLADE — The Okeechobee Hurricane of 1928 pounded Lake Okeechobee and the Glades on the night of Sept. 16. The waters of Lake Okeechobee rose and inundated the Glades. When daybreak came, people learned that thousands of lives had been lost in the storm.

The public is invited to remember this time in history and the thousands of people who were killed here in the community on Friday, Sept. 14, at 6 p.m., near the Lawrence E. Will Museum, located at 530 S. Main Street in Belle Glade.
