The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that left a 16-year-old boy injured this week. With little information about the suspects available, investigators are hoping witnesses will step forward and provide information to help them make an arrest in the case.
The incident happened on Sunday, May 24, at Southwest Avenue C Place and Southwest Ninth Street in Belle Glade. That’s when deputies were called to investigate an apparent shooting.
Arriving crews located a 16-year-old victim who had suffered a gunshot wound to his left thigh. According to information released by the sheriff’s office, the victim suffered only tissue damage and, after being transported to Lakeside Medical Center with non life threatening injuries, was expected to be released from the hospital.
Investigators were able to speak with the victim shortly after the incident, but the young man denied being able to identify suspects. He told investigators he had been standing near the stop sign at the intersection when three black males approached him and then shot at him.
A canvass of the area also did not result in any witnesses to the crime stepping forward.
If anyone has information about this crime, they are urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-458-TIPS (8477). Callers may choose to remain anonymous.
