UPDATE: Two Belle Glade women dies in Clewiston traffic crash

CLEWISTON — Two Belle Glade women died from injuries sustained in a single vehicle crash on Wednesday, May 2, in Clewiston.

A Florida Highway Patrol press release stated that on at approximately 4:09 p.m. a 2002 Chrysler PT Cruiser operated by Thelmakia Robinson, 20, Belle Glade, was traveling northbound on the inside lane of U.S. 27 south of CR – 835 (Evercane Road), in Hendry County. The car began rotating clockwise across the outside lane and entered the east grassy shoulder where it overturned into a water filled canal and came to a final rest on its roof in the canal, east of U.S. 27.

It was reported that Ms. Robinson was transported to St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach and pronounced deceased on May 2.

A passenger in the car, Evylen Ziggler, 71, of Belle Glade, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Charges were pending for further investigation at the time of the press release.

The traffic accident was investigated by Trooper S.S. Vonsoosten, Crash Investigator and Corporal Mariam N. Berthet, Homicide Investigator.
