Clewiston man dies in Pahokee wreck

A Clewiston man died today from injuries he sustained after his vehicle collided with a palm tree in Pahokee, according to information released by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.

The accident happened on Bacom Point Road and Southwest 14th Terrace yesterday, approximately 10 minutes before noon, the sheriff’s office reports.

Christopher Calloway, 31, of Clewiston, was transported to St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach for treatment of his injuries, but emergency workers were unable to help the man, who succumbed to his injuries at 1 a.m. today.

According to a report released by the sheriff’s office, Mr. Calloway was driving north on Bacom Point Road in a 2002 Pontiac sedan when, for reasons that remain unknown, he lost control of his vehicle.

The car traveled into the opposite lane, before striking a palm tree, and coming to a rest in the southbound lane, the vehicle homicide investigation found.
