Escaped inmate captured in Belle Glade

An escaped inmate who was last seen running south near the South Florida Fairgrounds in West Palm Beach was recently found and captured at a Belle Glade hotel. Antwane Anglin, 27, had reportedly walked away from a West Palm Beach Community Work Release Program early Thursday morning, August 6, setting off a search for his whereabouts. The last time he was seen he was getting out of a silver or white vehicle and running away.

Just a few hours later, at approximately 2 p.m., the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, together with members of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE), and the Florida

Department of Corrections, had their man. Anglin was recaptured at a local hotel without incident.

Anglin had been held at a Palm Beach facility after being charged with crimes that included selling cocaine out of Monroe County in Florida. Anglin was nearing the tail end of his incarceration when he decided to flee from the work release program last week – a move that will cost him an additional five years in prison.

It was a particularly rough week for the Department of Corrections, which saw two escapes from work programs in West Palm Beach in as many days. Anglin’s escape from the work release program was the second escape, with another inmate escaping from a road prison work detail just two days earlier. That fugitive remains on the loose.
