Unable to pay fare, Belle Glade man is arrested
A Belle Glade man was arrested on Jan. 21 when he was unable to pay his taxi driver. According to a report released by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, the man called a cab in West Palm
Beach to drive him back home to Belle Glade during the early morning hours.
The man apparently failed to mention to the cab driver that he did not have money to pay, and waited until they were approximately 10 minutes from the destination to let the driver know that a female he hoped to get money from was not returning his calls.
The driver quickly contacted deputies, who arrested the man. The man is facing charges of defrauding the cab driver.
Man stabs neighbor in the arm
A man called Palm Beach County Sheriff’s deputies after his neighbor stabbed him through his right forearm. The injured man told deputies that one of his neighbors from across the street had become unstable after being told by the man to get out of the road to avoid getting injured by a car.
Instead of thanking the man for looking out for him, the neighbor began to kick at the man’s truck and threatened to shoot him. When the victim exited the truck, the neighbor attacked him, stabbing him in the arm with an unknown object. The victim grabbed a metal pipe to defend himself and the attacker ran from the scene.
The victim did not know what he was stabbed with, as it happened too quickly for him to see, but the wound was severe enough to penetrate his right forearm clear through both the top and bottom.
The victim was transported to Lakeside Medical Center for stitches and deputies tracked the attacker down, charging him with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
