No I.D. yet for woman found dead on lake

It was a fisherman in Pahokee who first spotted the lifeless body of a woman floating in Lake Okeechobee.

Now, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office is looking into the case with the hope of identifying the victim, and to try to explain how she died.

The woman’s body was recovered from the Pahokee Marina, 190 North Lake Drive in Pahokee, shortly after a call to the sheriff’s office was made at approximately 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 7.

The female was found floating face down in the water at the very north side of the Pahokee Marina, reported Teri Barbera, the sheriff’s office director of public information.

A scan of the woman did not seem to reveal any signs of foul play early on in the investigation. According to Ms. Barbera, investigators are waiting on the results of an autopsy to determine cause of death, and possibly identify the woman.

No other information in connection with the case has been released.
