Pahokee accident claims life

PAHOKEE – One person died as a result of a vehiclular accident on Bacom Point Road on Tuesday, Jan. 17.

According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office report a 2001 Toyota driven by Leonides Morales Gonzales, 74, of Pahokee was parked on the western shoulder (facing south) of Bacom Point Road, just south of the intersection of Home Place Court.

A 2007 Chevy 2500 Silverado HD driven by Guadalupe Montes, 44, of Clewiston was traveling south on Bacom Point Road approaching the intersection of Home Place Court.

As the 2007 Chevy traveled through the intersection, the 2001 Toyota attempted to make a U-turn, to travel north, directly into the path of the 2007 Chevy, making a collision unavoidable, according to the report.

During the collision the front of the 2007 Chevy collided with the driver’s door of the 2001 Toyota.

Ms. Gonzalez was reportedly transported to St. Mary’s Medical Center where she was later pronounced dead.

Mr. Montes reportedly received minor injuries as a result of the accident.
