Yet another Glades area man went to jail on charges of beating a woman he knew was pregnant.
The man, whose identity will be withheld to protect the identity of his victim, was arrested on June 4 in South Bay, where the incident happened.
Deputies were called to the scene to respond to a possible domestic dispute at an apartment unit, finding, when they arrived the victim complaining of multiple injuries inflicted by her boyfriend.
According to the victim, the suspect grabbed her by the neck hard enough to constrict her breathing for a period of about three seconds before shoving her to the ground, still holding his grip around her neck.
When she fell, the woman suffered a number of cuts and abrasions to her right elbow, on which she landed.
As she spoke with deputies, the woman was breathing with short breaths, was crying and seemed very shaken up by the violence of the incidence.
She told deputies she was 10 weeks pregnant and showed them a picture of the baby’s ultrasound, which the suspect who attacked her had been present for, as he is the father of the child.
Deputies obtained a sworn statement from the victim and took photos of her injuries.
The victim said she was in fear for her life and that of her unborn child during the attack, and worried that she would be subjected to more violence if the suspect was not arrested.
The man was charged with battery on a pregnant victim, and domestic battery by strangulation.
