Belle Glade Sun

The Sun newspaper covers the towns of Belle Glade, Pahokee, South Bay and Canal Point, which are on the southern shores of Lake Okeechobee. Located on the edge of the Everglades, the area is famous for its rich, black soil. This fertile soil produces abundant crops, such as sugarcane, corn, radishes, lettuce and rice.

Lake Okeechobee is known as the Bass Capital of the World and draws sports fishermen from around the world to fish in the second largest freshwater lake in the country. The residents of “The Glades” live within 40 miles of the major shopping hub of West Palm Beach and 60 miles from Miami.

The Sun newspaper is the only local newspaper serving this area and residents rely on the newspaper’s coverage of the local news, sports and social events.
