Glades Region hosting Choice and Career Showcase

BELLE GLADE — With so many Choice and Career options available to students in the Glades region, a special Choice Program Showcase has been planned to help students and their families in the area conveniently learn about the programs and apply online.

The Glades Regional Office will host the event on Thursday, Nov. 17 from 6 to 8 p.m. at 2625 North West 16th Street in Belle Glade.

Representatives from the academies will be available to answer questions, highlight their programs and assist students and parents apply for the programs using the computers available in the office.

Programs in the Glades area schools include Air Force (ROTC), Information Technology (Digital Design), International Baccalaureate (IB), Medical Science/Pre-Med, Teacher Education, Construction, Criminal Justice, Engineering Technology, Pre-Medical Science, Visual Performing & Communication Arts, Spanish Dual Language.

“These programs give students an opportunity to focus on what they are interested in,” said Superintendent Dr. Robert Avossa. “We know they do better in school if it’s something they are passionate about.”

Parents are encouraged to apply online as it is the most efficient way to submit and manage the application. It will also give parents priority access to lottery results when they are released in the spring.
