Gove celebrates International Walk to School Day

BELLE GLADE — It was a perfect morning to have the 14th annual “International Walk to School Day” at Gove Elementary. The event took place on Oct. 10, from 7:15 to 8 a.m. This event involved the entire student body, their families, Palm Beach County Fire Rescue, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office and other volunteers from the community.

Cones were placed along Avenue G by 6:15 a.m. by Deputy Sutterfield and her volunteers. The Gove Fuel Up and Wellness Teams and community volunteers mentored students by walking with them, their parents and community members while discussing the importance of a proper exercise regimen, practicing safety manners and making the right environmental and healthy choices.

We appreciate all their efforts for the well-being of the community. The Safety Patrol members gave all volunteers bottles of cool water for donating their time for the betterment of our students and the community. Kudos to Coach Carril for overseeing this remarkable event.
