Belle Glade youths teams win state championship

HOBE SOUND — On Saturday, April 21, the Wellington Wizards Rugby Club won four state championships. The club’s Under-9, Under-13, Under-15 and Under-19 teams claimed the championship titles at the Florida State Rugby Union’s state championships hosted by the Hobe Sound Polo Club in Hobe Sound.

Belle Glade residents Billy and Jenna Rimes’ and Bradley and Rhonda Vickers’ children: William “Will” Rimes, Garrett Rimes, Abbie Rimes and Ty Vickers were players on teams who won their divisions’ state championships for the Wellington Wizards.

The Wellington Wizards’ teams Under-15 (Will Rimes and Ty Vickers) led by Coach Jaime Rivera defeated Okapi Wanderers 31-14; Under-11 (Garrett Rimes) led by Coach Doug Price defeated the Jupiter Sharks 3-2; and the Under-9 (Abbie Rimes) led by Coach Andrew Mack defeated the Okapi Wanderers 3-2.
