PAHOKEE – Pahokee has another key district game Friday, Oct. 14, when they host the Frostproof Bulldogs (2-4).

Pahokee (6-0), continues their march to a perfect season and stand (1-0) in District 1A-8.

Frostproof has lost to Avon Park 39-0 and Hardee 31-13, defeated Tenoroc 19-13 and Wildwood 49-14, and lost to Lake Christian 43-19 and Taylor County 20-6.

Frostproof allowed 108 yards rushing to Taylor Counties Jaquvias Williams. They are led by tailback Deonte McMahon, quarterback Josh Jenkins and wide receiver Chester Boatwright on offense and Jeremiah Salaam on defense. The Bulldogs know they can ill afford another loss in district play.

Pahokee had a bye week last week after a tough victory at Boca Raton on Sept. 30.

Coach Orson Walkes has been careful not to look to far ahead. He has set goals for the team each week and they appear to be reaching those.

Rodney McKay continues to lead the offense and is almost a sure bet to break 1,000 yards this season.

Quarterback Tyrone Smith needs to be more consistent. Pahokee’s defense has been the most consistent part of the team.

It appears that Fort Meade is going to be the toughest challenge in districts this year and Pahokee doesn’t want to be caught looking ahead. The Miners (5-2) have won their only two district games. The two teams meet next Friday, Oct. 21, in Fort Meade.

The game is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 14, at 7 p.m. at Anquan Boldin Stadium on Larrimore Road. There is a charge for parking and admission.
