Coach Orson Walkes said he wants the Blue Devils to improve each week and remain focused.

“I want to see us moving forward. We had a couple of dropped passes and holding penalties so we need to clean it up a bit on offense.”

Walkes also wants his defense to start games faster and be more aggressive early. He’d like to see the defense have more three and out series against Cardinal Newman.

The Crusaders are led by quarterback Jason Moschella who ran for two touchdowns last week as the Crusaders defeated Santaluces 45-6. Running back Carson Powell also ran for 66 yards and two touchdowns. The Crusaders had 216 yards rushing as a team.

The Crusaders (1-1) opened the season with a 28-12 loss to Spanish River. Moschella threw well in that game with 110 yards passing. His top targets in the run game are Armani Hayes and Cedric Vincent. Other top players for the Crusaders include linemen Nate Grant and Wade Mockovick and special teams’ standout Patrick Keenan.

The game is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 9 at 7 p.m. at Anquan Boldin Stadium. There is a charge for parking and admission.
