Cross country teams compete in Perseverance Invitational

BELLE GLADE – The Glades Central cross country team was in action as they competed in the Perseverance Invitational at John I. Leonard High School and the Southwest Invitational at Okeehelee Park this month.

Palm Beach Central won the boys race and Wellington won the girls race at the Perseverance Invite.

Highlights for the Raiders included Quartavis Sellers, who finished 59th at 22:02.75, Venanza Vereen who finished in 69th place at 23:17.45 and Santonia Cobia who finished in 86th place at 32:09.47. Highlights for the Lady Raiders included Runelda Jackson who finished in 42nd place at 26:22.76.

The boy’s team finished in 10th place at the Southwest Invitational. John I. Leonard won the race.

Pahokee girls finished in 12th place at the Southwest Invitational race. Wellington was the race team champion.

Pahokee also competed in the Benjamin School meet on Sept. 14. The Lady Blue Devils were paced by Antwanique Kinsler who finished 32nd, Ashley Roberson who finished 37th, Bre’yanna Banks who finished 70th, Ivana Ramirez, 72nd, Layla Perez 74th, and Sha’Niya Williams 75th. St. Andrews won the girls race while Pahokee finished in eighth place.

The boy’s team was paced by Gustavo Guzman who finished in eighth place at 19:34. Shanard Edmond finished in 29th place, Roberto Jimenez, 37th, David Howe, 38th and John Charles, 53rd. Jupiter Christian won the boys race while Pahokee finished in sixth place out of nine teams.
