Glades Day broke a two game losing streak with a big win, 48-7, over St. Andrews in a Southeastern North Football Conference game Friday, Oct. 14.
Glades Day busted out to a 42-0 halftime lead and cruised for their fourth win in seven decisions, (4-3).
Markens Pierre carried only three times for 50 yards but two of those carries were for touchdowns. Pierre scored on a 27 yard run in the first quarter and a one yard run later in the first.
Quarterback Alex Mineo had his best game of the year with four touchdown passes. Mineo threw for 177 yards. He hit Christian Ellison for two touchdowns in the second quarter, Jorge Acosta with a 27 yard touchdown in the first quarter and Anthony McPhee with a 29 yard pass for a score in the second quarter.
Cross Onega rushed for 53 yards and a touchdown. His 11 yard run was the only Gator score in the second half.
Glades Day predictably dominated the stat sheet as they had 16 first downs to St. Andrews seven. They ran for 145 yards on 18 carries and threw for 201 yards with 11 receptions. The Gators also recovered two fumbles and had an interception.
Tito Thompson ran for 46 yards for St. Andrews, (2-6). The Spartans passed for 59 yards and rushed 26 times for 100 yards.
Ellison led Glades Day with 71 yards in receptions. A.J Johnson had the interception for the Gators.
West Oaks Academy is an independent Christian School in Orlando. They are coached by Victor Floyd. They have lost to First Academy of Orlando 37-0, defeated North Florida Educational Institute 12-8, lost to Victory Christian Academy 31-7, and lost to Tampa Catholic 58-12. Floyd coached at Agape Christian and was hired to reboot the program.
