PAHOKEE – Pahokee High School’s volleyball team defeated Glades Central in five tough games after a slow start on Tuesday, Sept. 6. Pahokee defeated Glades Central 22-25, 24-26, 25-23, 25-22 and 15-10.
The Blue Devils gave a much better effort than recent games and didn’t give up easily. They lost the first two games but then came back to win the next three in Belle Glade.
Coach Edward Erhardt said he hopes this will encourage the girls to keep working on their skills.
“I hope this win will be a boost of confidence for us moving forward. I’m very proud of the way the girls refused to give up and continued to fight even though their back was against the wall,” he said.
Erhardt said the victory showed that his girls have a lot of determination and mental toughness and refuse to quit.
“After a team loses the first two sets it would have been easy for them to call it a day and lose the third set but they didn’t, instead they won the third and continued to fight through to get their first victory of the season,” he added.
Lon’teria McFadden had three aces and eight kills, Asia Wilson had four service aces and 12 kills and Amari Spivey had four service aces, two kills, three blocks and a dig for the Blue Devils.
