Pahokee track teams take honors

PAHOKEE — Tyler Gilbert and Bryan Crawford were in the winner’s circle on March 3 as Pahokee competed in the Seminole Ridge Invitational track meet.

Crawford won the shot put with a toss of 15.7 meters. Gilbert was the winner of the high jump with a leap of 1.83 meters.

Other highlights for the Blue Devils included a third place finish by Deonte Nelson in the 400 meter dash. Nelson finished in 51.96 seconds. Teammate Cobe Pate finished in fourth place with a time of 52.56 seconds. The Blue Devils 4×400 meter relay squad finished in third place with a time of 3:37.99.

Gilbert also took third in the long jump with a distance of 6.03 meters.

Shanard Edmond took sixth place for the Devils in the 1,600 meter run with a time of 2:14.45. Gustavo Guzman finished in 10th place in the 1,600 meter run with a time of 5:07.91. Tevaris Powell took 12th place in the 200 meter dash with a time of 23.75 seconds. Tyron Arnett finished seventh in the 110 meter hurdles in 17.88 seconds.

John Charles finished seventh in the 400 meter dash in 53:12.

The Pahokee Lady Blue Devils had some outstanding performances on March 3 as they competed in the Seminole Ridge Invitational.

Asia Wilson won the 100 meter dash, Antwanique Kinsler won the 400 meter dash, Tyler Gilbert won the high jump and two relay teams were victorious.

Wilson finished the 100 meter dash in 12.58. Ta’Kaya Washington finished eighth and Br’nijah Williams finished 20th.

Wilson came in second place in the 200 meter dash at 26.46. Washington finished second and Williams finished 12th.

Kinsler finished the 400 meter dash in 1.00.38. Clyana Ward was close behind at 1:01.76 to finish second. Sha’Niya Williams finished in 15th place.

Bre’yanna Banks finished eighth in the 800 meter run at 2:43.12 while Ulicia Grantlin finished in 17th place.

Layla Perez finished seventh in the 300 meter hurdles in a time of 54.87. Melanie Mcauley finished 13th at 58.61. Chelsea Lawrence finished in 20th position.

The 4×100 meter relay was victorious in 49.60 seconds and the 4×400 meter relay was victorious in a time of 4.12.54.

The 4×800 meter relay team finished in sixth place at 11:55.27.

In field events, Ward finished third in the long jump with a leap of 4.7 meters. Kinsler finished in sixth place at 4.54 meters. Chrisharia Humphrey took fourth in the discus at 25.21 meters and Ashley Roberson finished in fifth place at 24.65 meters.

Ty’Erica Robinson won the shot put at 9.5 meters and Chrisharia Humphrey finished in 12th place at 8.2 meters.
