PAHOKEE – Pahokee ran up against some tough volleyball opponents last Tuesday, Aug. 30, as they lost to Atlantic Christian and A.W. Dreyfoos School of the Arts in varsity matches.
Coach Edward Erhardt said he thinks the Lady Blue Devils can grow from these losses and continue to improve as the season wears on.
Atlantic Christian defeated Pahokee in three sets and Dreyfoos also defeated Pahokee in three games.
Erhardt said he was a bit surprised at the results against Atlantic Christian in Pahokee Tuesday, Aug. 30, “In all reality we should have beaten this team as we have better talent but for some reason the girls were off their game and had far too many mental errors.”
The Lady Blue Devils played their best game in the third set as they fell 26-24.
Erhardt said the team was competitive throughout against Dreyfoos, whose campus is in Martin County.
“Dreyfoos has a very talented team and even though we lost we still had several bright spots. We had a few too many mental errors. If we have any chance of winning games this year we really need to work on eliminating mental errors.”
Erhardt expressed optimism that Pahokee would fare better against Royal Palm Beach and other future opponents.
The junior varsity team is still a work in progress and did not play any matches this past week, Coach Erhardt added.
