• Glades Day football coach Eric Pitts was thrilled with the team’s overall play in the victory over St. Andrews last week, 48-7.

He said Lorenzo Powe set the tone when he caused a fumble on the opening kickoff and the team didn’t stop there. Shawn Collins recovered the fumble to give the Gators the early momentum.

He also praised the play of running back Markens Pierre and the quarterback play of Alex Mineo who was able to hit three different receivers with touchdown passes.

Powe added a blocked punt and Collins recovered a second fumble in the game.

“Our defense played with a lot of energy, A.J Johnson had an interception and Yasser Halum and Michael Burrack both had quarterback sacks,” he noted.

“I was overall happy with the way we played. We were enthusiastic and disciplined.”
