BELLE GLADE – The Glades Day Gators host conference foe St. Andrews from Boca Raton Friday, Oct. 14, night.
Glades Day (3-3) and St. Andrews both had a bye week last week. St. Andrews (2-4) coached by Jimmy Robertson currently are in fifth place in the conference while Glades Day stands in third place.
So far this year the Scots have defeated Florida Christian 34-0, lost to Kings Academy 29-6, defeated Miami Country Day 49-0, lost to Lasalle 10-7, lost to Marathon 10-7 and lost to Pine Crest 28-8.
The Scots have played two quarterbacks this year and have completed 56 percent of their passes for only 549 yards. Wyatt Roth has two touchdown throws. He has shared time with Jason Otis at quarterback.
The top runner for the Scots is Tito Thompson who has rushed for 326 yards, an average of 6.3 yards per rush, and Gadiel Cartagena, 246 yards rushing, 5.6 yards per carry. The top receivers include Evan Loesel 17 receptions for 230 yards and Jason Otis 11 catches for 107 yards and a score. On defense the Scots are led by senior Tristan Cade with 33 tackles, Thompson with 32 tackles and Loesel with 31 tackles which include four tackles for loss.
The Gators are led by Markens Pierre and the strong run game. Pierre has 717 yards rushing and 11 touchdowns this year. Quarterback Alex Mineo has completed 47 percent of his passes with seven touchdowns. Wide receiver Jorge Acosta has 169 yards in receptions and four touchdowns. Antarus Johnson has 273 yards in returns and a touchdown. AJ McPhee leads the Gators with three interceptions.
The game will be played at Schlechter Stadium at 400 Gator Blvd. in Belle Glade. There is a charge for admission and parking.
